“But Mom, EVERYONE Has One!”
It drives me crazy when my kids tell me what other kids have: “everyone” has a cell phone or their own laptop, really? We’re talking about 9 and 10 year olds! I am not saying my kids are deprived. They each have an iPod (they got those for Christmas a couple years ago) and their own iPads too (my husband, I mean Santa, gave those to them this year without my approval)! It’s inevitable that kids will see what their friends have that they don’t, but I think they need to understand that every family has different rules. Also, it’s none of our business what goes on in other people’s homes! It’s our job to put limitations on our children that we deem necessary, and to help make them aware of all they do have so they can be grateful. It’s not easy!
