Girls Night Out
I am a girls, girl. I was a cheerleader in High School with 5 other girls. In college I lived in a Sorority House with 130 girls. I still talk to my girlfriends all the time and even go on an annual “girls” trip. But now I have a new set of girlfriends— the “mommy friends” and they are at the top of the food chain as far as friends go. The importance of these women could rival that of my husband. Last night six of us “mommy friends” got together for a Girls Night Out. A little Mexican Food, a lot of margarita’s and one of the best conversations I have ever had. We laughed about everything from hiding spending from our husbands, to past boyfriends, to our sporadic sex lives, but mainly we laughed about our kids and the life of a mom. What is so great about the “mommy friends” is that none of us ever get sick of talking about our kids. We giggled about all the funny questions our kids ask us that we have no idea how to answer (what is sexing mommy?), or how far to push our kids or not (is 20 classes really too many?), and all the mistakes we make on a daily basis (every time my child gets hurt they seem to be in my care, am I too relaxed?). The laughter alone made me feel 10 years younger and the honesty was rejuvenating. I came home a better wife and a better mommy. There is something about women getting together and sharing experiences that is truly magical…

I also have a group of “mommy friends” I met during my kids’ “young kindermusik years”. 5 or so years later, we still get together at least 3-4 times a year – laugh and cry our hearts out to each other. No matter when and where we meet, it is always a magical couple of hours and we always look forward to the next time we meet and laugh again.
Jen that would count as “me” time
