How Active Should Your Kids Be?

We know it’s important for our kids to keep moving, but how much is enough? Playing at school? Being on a soccer team? Exercise class? Jen and Barb talk to Karen Owoc,
Exercise Physiologist, TV and Radio host and Mom, about the importance of physical activity for our children as they discuss, “How Active Should Your Kids Be?”

    Hi Jen and Barb,

Thank you so much for talking about healthy activity for kids and having me on your show to share the message. You’re wonderful moms!

To expand on the subject of “vigorous” activities, here’s a link to a list of moderate to vigorous activities put together by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control):

kids should participate in organized sports to get proper physical conditioning and discipline. Also the interaction with others is crucial for team play

I agree with you, Dan, and support organized sports. The athletic experience provides more than a healthy heart and mind. It’s the key to developing functional whole adults. Sports teach girls how to compete, aim high, and persevere in an open, legitimate way. Boys learn how to connect, how to bond, and turn dreams into goals also in an open, legitimate way. These are lessons that teach kids how to prepare for life and become healthy contributing adults.
